By introducing personnel to the International Code of Safety for Ships Using Gases or Other Low-flashpoint Fuels (IGF Code). This course is developed in accordance with IMO’s STCW Code section A-V/3.1

How will the course benefit me?

This course is part of the required trainings for HEMS operating crew, and covers classification of dangerous goods, how dangerous goods is divided into hazard classes, how it should be marked and labelled and what emergency procedures should contain.

 

This course must be repeated every 24 months.

Course Description:-

This course consists of 2 modules. It explains the step-by-step process involved in making a risk assessment and the various terminology like risk level, severity, likelihood etc. This must be viewed in conjunction with your SMS, company generic and ship-specific risk assessment manual.

This course also serves as a refresher training before any inspection and, in turn, will boost the candidate's confidence.  

Learning Objectives:-

At the end of this module, the candidate will be able to

1) Explain what a risk is and the difference between critical jobs and routine jobs.

2) Explain the risk level by checking the severity and the likeliness

3) Explain the importance of making a risk assessment ship specific 

4) Explain the additional control measures which need to be taken to reduce risk levels. 

5) Have self-confidence and self-assurance while dealing with third-party inspectors and answering questions related to risk assessments.

Course goal: This course aims to introduce, develop and increase learners’ knowledge and awareness of the importance of Risk Assessment and how it can reduce the likelihood of accidents in the workplace.

After completion of this course, you'll learn how to use the sextant, how to bring the sun down to the horizon, how to calculate the latitude at noon, and other fundamentals. If you go no further than that, you're going to have a pretty solid foundation in basic celestial navigation.
