Satellite communication: Today, there is a lot of communication via satellite. In this course, you learn about the satellite systems used at sea. One of these systems includes Iridium, which offers telephony and data communication. The Iridium system has been approved as an emergency system for commercial transport. The course is in accordance with NS-EN 1591-4 and undergoes the same course content as an ordinary four-day course but without the use of hydraulic torque tool and tensioning tools.

The use of a mechanical torque wrench is the main focus but also a review of procedures, flanges, gaskets, practical tasks and more.

The course ends with a theoretical and practical exam. If passed, the approval is valid for 5 years.

This course replaces the previous PRO-009 HSE for Safety Delegates (40 hours course) course.


The course is a combination of the e-learning course “PRO-015 HSE for Safety delegates and Leaders” and a 1-day classroom session. It will comply with the Working Environment Act Sections 6-5 and 7-4 on training of Safety Delegates and AMU representatives. The 1-day session takes place preferably in a physical classroom, where topics from the e-learning course will be deepen further, in example through cases and group discussions. The training will be adapted to the company’s needs and preferences.

The course is designed to improve the participants‘ ability to handle HSE challenges in their daily work, and provides reasons for why this work is both useful and profitable. The participants are introduced to the most important principles and methods within HSE work. The course provides a theoretical foundation in HSE, all the time with a clear view of how the work with safety, health and environment is planned and carried out in practice.
