Yoga means "union" or "to yoke" in Sanskrit, which refers to uniting the mind and body through physical postures (asana), breath work (pranayama), meditation or relaxation techniques (dhyaana), chanting/singing (kirtan) as well as ethical principles such as nonviolence (ahimsa).

The goal of practicing yoga is not only physical fitness but also mental clarity and spiritual growth--and there are many benefits associated with this practice!
