Do you know how many different chemicals are used in the engine room of the ships? There are various chemicals supplied to be used on ships. Being useful, the majority of these chemicals onboard have hazards! In general marine chemicals are risky to store, transport and use. Some of these chemicals have health risks, while others are regarded as harmful to the marine environment.

 

This course will identify the procedures for safe storage and handling of chemicals in the engine room and moreover, discuss the requirements for first aid. During this course, you will learn about: The purpose of the contents of a Material Safety Data Sheet; The health and safety risks presented by chemicals in the engine room; The safe storage conditions for chemicals within the engine room; The safe handling procedures for chemicals in the engine room as well as the emergency first aid procedures related to chemicals used in the engine room.
