This course aims to  provide learners with an overview of US best practice in relation to working with hand and power tools.

This course aims to provide an understanding of the potential hazards associated with the use of hand tools and power tools, as well as the safety precautions required to prevent those hazards from occurring.

LO1 Identify the general hazards and control measures associated with hand and power tools

LO2 Identify specific hazards associated with hand tools

LO3 Give an overview of general power tool safety precautions

LO4 Explain how guards provide protection to operators

LO5 Give examples of tools that must be equipped with a momentary switch

LO6 Identify specific hazards and control measures related to the use of electric tools

LO7 Identify the proper procedures to follow when using a grinder

LO8 Identify specific hazards and control measures related to the use of pneumatic tools

LO9 Identify specific hazards and control measures related to the use of powder-actuated tools

LO10 Identify specific hazards and control measures related to the use of hydraulic jacks
