Uansett hvor sikkert og robust petroleumsvirksomheten drives, vil feil, fare- og ulykkessituasjoner kunne oppstå. Derfor må det være etablert barrierer som beskytter mot ulykker. I dette grunnleggende kurset gjennomgås de viktigste begrepene innen barrierestyring for å sikre en felles forståelse av disse.

Kurset er basert på Proactima sin modell for helhetlig barrierestyring og bygger på Havtils’ Barrierenotat 2017. Bidragsyterne til innholdet er personell fra Proactima har teknisk og operasjonell erfaring med barrierestyring. Det er lagt vekt på en tilnærming som legger til rette for praktisk forståelse ved at brannen på Hammerfest LNG i 2020 brukes gjennomgående som eksempel. Kurset avsluttes med en test, hvor deltakeren må svare ritkig på minst 70% av spørmålene for å bestå kurset.

E-læringskurset kan være enkeltstående, eller brukes som et underlag for  en videre fordypning utover Havtil sitt barrierenotat. Proactima tilbyr slik fordyping i form av et videregående kurs som gjennomføres med foreleser, enten digitalt eller med fysisk oppmøte. Det videregående kurset skal gjøre deltakerne i stand til å etablere, følge opp og forbedre barrierestyringssystem i eget selskap/installasjonog gi innsyn i en praktisk metode for barrierestyring i drift.
