Is there an assessment? 

Yes - There is a course assessment with an 80% pass mark and 2 attempts. 

Learning objectives

- Identify the physical properties of H2S

- Recognise the physiological effects of exposure to varying toxicity levels of H2S

- Recognise the responsibilities and duties of all personnel and their duties under current legislation

- Recognise the current legal occupational exposure limits for short- and long-term exposure periods relating to H2S

- Identify the various methods for detecting H2S

- Identify the various personal and respiratory protection equipment required for undertaking tasks in areas where H2S may be present

- Recognise the hazardous area classifications which may be encountered on an offshore installation

- Identify the formal requirements for H2S contingency plans on installations

This course is intended for navigators at the management, operational and support level. However, it may also be of interest to personnel in the engineering and hospitality department.

This course will help prospective seafarers and those already sailing to understand Shallow Water Effects and the risks that come with them, in addition to the actions to be taken in various circumstances.

Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to understand or refresh their knowledge on Shallow Water Effects and how to recognise and act when these are encountered.

This course aims to give a brief introduction to the replication process in Crew On Board and the Crewing module. Crewing is a basic module and everyone with access to COB will also have access to 1 or more sub-menus in Crewing. All the standard sub-menus of the Crewing module are covered in this course.
