The course is in accordance with NS-EN 1591-4 and undergoes the same course content as an ordinary four-day course but without the use of hydraulic torque tool and tensioning tools.

The use of a mechanical torque wrench is the main focus but also a review of procedures, flanges, gaskets, practical tasks and more.

The course ends with a theoretical and practical exam. If passed, the approval is valid for 5 years.

Courses are conducted in Stavanger or Bergen
and is carried out on request.

This course replaces the previous PRO-009 HSE for Safety Delegates (40 hours course) course.


The course is a combination of the e-learning course “PRO-015 HSE for Safety delegates and Leaders” and a 1-day classroom session. It will comply with the Working Environment Act Sections 6-5 and 7-4 on training of Safety Delegates and AMU representatives. The 1-day session takes place preferably in a physical classroom, where topics from the e-learning course will be deepen further, in example through cases and group discussions. The training will be adapted to the company’s needs and preferences.

The course is designed to improve the participants‘ ability to handle HSE challenges in their daily work, and provides reasons for why this work is both useful and profitable. The participants are introduced to the most important principles and methods within HSE work. The course provides a theoretical foundation in HSE, all the time with a clear view of how the work with safety, health and environment is planned and carried out in practice.

CONTENT 

The course provides an understanding of well control techniques for surface or subsea BOP installations beyond standard supervisor level according to International Well Control Forum standards and IOGP476.

The course starts with 2 standard IWCF L4 written exams: Equipment and P&P. On successful completion of those (min. 80% pass mark), the Technical Topics starts.

Technical Topics are:

General gas behavior as foundation for Volumetric Method and well control 

principles. Classroom and practical exercises.

Volumetric Method, in classroom and with various challenges during simulator exercises.

Bullheading in classroom, case studies and simulator.

Highly Deviated Well Control in classroom, with different challenges in Simulator exercises.

Added to the Technical Topics, and ingrained in the simulator exercises is CRM according to IOGP 476.


CRM Topics includes:

• Leadership

• Communication and situational awareness

• Decision making

• Feedback

• Personal Development Plan for each participant


The course is led by instructors with extensive experience in well control and CRM and is delivered in an environment of experience sharing.

The course will include theory, case studies, group discussions and exercises


OBJECTIVES 

The purpose is to improve the Well Control knowledge for experienced personnel to a new higher level above and beyond the current IWCF Level 4.

Well Control training and assessment as well as to enhance non-technical skills by focusing on CRM principles and knowledge sharing.

Course Intro

This course helps us understand well control techniques for surface and subsea BOP installations at supervisor level according to International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) Wellsharp standards.

Course Content
