Just about everyone knows that young people just love to travel. It is a means of expressing themselves, discovering who they are, and a fantastic means of exposing them to different cultures, societies, and ways of life. It is also common knowledge that there are, and always will be inherent risks that accompany young people whilst they are travelling away from the security of family and home. For example, in Australia, more than 38,000 people go missing each year. Whilst most of these are located within a short time period, there remain as many as 2,600 missing for more than 3 months.

The Online Travel Security Awareness for Students & Young People Overseas Course has been specifically written for young people travelling or working overseas during gap years, student exchange programmes, working with NGO's and Charities or simply backpacking around the world. 

The course covers most areas that need to be considered in order to assist in the mitigation of the risk of a security-related incident. The course also covers topics relevant to safety issues, including emergency response planning and measures. Learners should understand that this course cannot guarantee you a risk-free experience, but it will build on your current personal security knowledge and risk mitigation skills.

Brannvernloven med forskrift og HMS-lovgivningen stiller krav til at både eiere og brukere av bygg skal ha kunnskap om brannsikkerhet. Kurset er tilpasset kravene i ny forskrift gjeldende fra 01.01.16 og passer godt for «brannvernledere», brannansvarlige, etasjeansvarlige eller andre i tilsvarende roller knyttet til HMS. Det er ingen krav om forkunnskaper for å delta.

Hensikt:

Formålet med kurset er å øke virksomheters kompetanse om hvordan brannvernarbeidet kan gjennomføres for å sikre liv, helse, miljø og materielle verdier.

Course Description:-

This course consists of 3 modules, it explains about the IMO requirements for the OWS. The various components of OWS and the various problems encountered when using an OWS.

It explains the importance of Environmental tag seals and seal record book, the operational tests,  the 3-way valve test, the retrieval of recorded data etc. 

The Bilge management section helps to understand the importance of keeping bilges clean and assists the crew in making a bilge management flow chart so they can relate to what is causing the build-up of bilge water.

This course also serves as a refresher training before any inspection and, in turn, will boost the candidate's confidence.

Learning Objectives:-

At the end of this module, the candidate will be able to

1) Explain the various components and tests of the OWS 

2) Explain the importance of the environmental tags

3) Explain the various checks to be carried out on the OWS and the associated piping and equipment.

4) Demonstrate the OWS 3-way valve test 

5) Explain the importance of bilge management

6) Make a bilge management chart onboard.

7) Have self-confidence and self-assurance to answer third-party inspectors’ questions about Oily Water Separator or Bilge Water Management.
