Presentation

This training course aims at providing an overview of the Port State Control background, organisation and procedures. It includes a description of the Port State Control inspection process, the criteria for selection of ships for inspection and the most common detainable deficiencies.

Objectives

On completion of the training program, the student will be awarded: 

A Certificate of Port State Control, issued by Bureau Veritas Solutions Marine & Offshore.

The Certificate of Port State Control is obtained after completion of the course and passing the online test.

Course Description:-

This course consists of 3 modules. It gives an insight about the various work permit onboard. This must be viewed in conjunction with your SMS and your company-specific work permit procedures and checklists. 

The course explains which jobs need a permit, the different types of permits, the various sections in a permit to work and most importantly, the various challenges associated with a work permit.

This course also serves as a refresher training before any inspection and, in turn, will boost the candidate's confidence.  

Learning Objectives:-

At the end of this module, the candidate will be able to

1) Explain why we require a work permit 

2) Understand when a work permit is required and will be able to explain what is a non-routine or a high-risk job.

3) Explain the different sections of a work permit 

4) Understand how a work permit can fail 

5) Understand the various challenges associated with work permits 

6) Have self-confidence and self-assurance when completing a work permit or when answering any question related to work permits.
