Historically, in the United States, affirmative action came into play to protect the rights of minority groups. Today, affirmative action policies are not compulsory in every workplace, however, companies whose work is contracted by federal governments in the United States are required to have affirmative action policies in place. There are many conflicting views on affirmative action however, diversity, inclusion and equality play a similar role in creating balanced workplaces. Diversity is extremely important in today’s world, ensuring that needs of all ethnic and minority groups are represented and met.

Course Description:-

This course deals with the procedures on how to enter enclosed spaces; this must be viewed in conjunction with your SMS and your company-specific enclosed space procedures and checklists. 

This course gives a general overview of what is an enclosed space, examples of various enclosed spaces onboard; it shows you a sample of a warning sign required for an enclosed space.

A brief explanation of the enclosed space entry permit and the enclosed space log described, the ventilation and gas checks to be carried out and the various equipment that need to be kept in a state of readiness explained.

This course also serves as a refresher training before any inspection and, in turn, will boost the candidate's confidence.  

Learning Objectives:-

At the end of this module, the candidate will be able to

1) Understand what entry spaces are and will be able to list out the enclosed spaces onboard 

2) Understand the precautions to be taken prior to making entry into an enclosed space. 

3) Explain the various gas checks to be carried out and the importance of ventilation and illumination 

4) Have self-confidence and self-assurance when entering enclosed spaces onboard or when answering any question related to enclosed spaces.

This training is meant for:

The primary needs of a warehouse are; means of storage (building, space), material handling equipment(pallet racking, forklifts, loading docks), and people (material handlers, leadership, administrative). These are just the basic needs. There are thousands of material handling alternatives, warehouse configurations, and pallet racking options. Warehouses are outfitted to suit the needs of the business. The primary goal of the warehouse is to safely and efficiently handle the flow of goods for an organization.

Warehouses store all different types of goods that require different space, temperature, and material storage requirements. Floor storage, vertical pallet racking, and cold storage are different types of storage. Warehousing functions, equipment, and people should add value to the products through efficiency. Optimizing warehouse operations is a primary objective and goal for any warehouse leader.

This course is designed for all maritime personnel who interact with computer systems onboard vessels or at Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA)-regulated facilities. It is ideal for crew members, supervisors, and anyone responsible for recognizing and reporting cyber incidents.

The course provides training in HSE and safe work in central operations for the supplier industry and shipyards. The course is a collaboration between Aker Solutions, Aibel, Rosenberg Worley and The Federation of Norwegian Industries.

Objective:

Everyone who is going to enter and perform work at the shipyards must have a basic training in HSE. This course provides such training.

Course Content:

Laws and regulations, access and security, protective equipment, working environment factors, external environment, and risk understanding are described.

Central work tasks and risks in these are dealt with. These are lift and rig operations, falling objects, barriers and signs, hand and finger safety, work over sea, hot work, welding and torch cutting, electrical work, work with industrial gas, pressure testing and pipe flushing, high-pressure washing, and more.

The principles in Life-saving rules are described and referred to in the work operations.

Who is the course for?

Everyone who is going to perform work at the shipyards. All personnel in the yard industry.

Is there an assessment?

Once you have completed the course, you will be asked a series of questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 80%.
