The theory part of the rigger course is conducted as classroom teaching or as online teaching; in online teaching, you communicate directly with the instructor and have the opportunity to ask questions along the way. The practical part of the rigger course is conducted at one of our departments with physical attendance. The rigger course is delivered as a complete rigger course where all theory and practice are included in the course package. The rigger course provides insight into the principles behind the construction, operation, use, and maintenance of rigging equipment. The purpose is to avoid unwanted incidents and accidents related to rigging operations.

The course covers requirements in the NORSOK R-003 standard:
The rigger course applies to equipment used for horizontal and vertical movement of loads, which is suspended from structures such as beams and others. The course is aimed at offshore and onshore personnel in the petroleum industry but will also be useful for personnel participating in lifting operations onshore.

Content of our rigger course:
•Correct use of fall arrest harnesses, fall arrest blocks, and energy-absorbing lanyards
•Technical requirements for harnesses, connectors, hooks, and lanyards/ropes
•Construction and operation of simple overhead travelling cranes and pillar jib cranes
•Correct and incorrect use of hoists
•Construction and operation of portable winches
•Suspension points, correct use / placement of beam clamps
•Use of auxiliary tools during rigging operations
•Correct use / placement of beam clamps
•Personal safety and the safety of others during rigging operations
•Use of barriers / barrier materials
•SJA - Safe Job Analysis

Rigger course duration:
•Module O-2.2 - 16 hours theory
•Module O-3.2 - 32 hours theory and practice

Exam / Certification:
Written theoretical test and practical test
