Sterilization is a process by which microorganisms present on instruments and devices are destroyed to prevent transmission of disease on that instrument. Items that must be sterilized are those that have contact with body tissues or bodily fluids and have the potential to transmit disease to a second patient. Health organizations must sterilize instruments and devices prior to patient use. This course is intended for medical professionals who interact with patients and provide immediate sterilization of instruments and devices.

By the end of this course, you will:

• Understand the difference between high-level and low-level sterilization
