Course Description:-

This course explains the hours of work and rest requirements. It explains the STCW and the MLC rest and working hours.

It explains the cyclic 24-hour cycle and explains the MLC 2006 min rest and max work option. 

Drills, UMS watches, over time and how they would relate to the hours of work and rest explained. 

Various points regarding crew members maintaining individual records, deviation of rest hours in case of emergency, the difference between on-call/standby, and using the planning tool to plan rest hours are explained in depth.  

 This course also serves as refresher training prior to any inspection and, in turn, will boost the confidence of the candidate.  

Learning Objectives:-

At the end of this module, the candidate will be able to

1) Understand the difference between the MLC and the STCW rest and work hours.

2) Explain what is meant by the Cyclic 24 hrs cycle.

3) Explain the various deviation from rest hours.

4) Confirm the importance of each crew maintaining his or her own copy of the rest hours.

5) Have self-confidence and self-assurance whilst dealing with third-party inspectors in case they are asked any questions about hours of work and rest
