Course Description:-
This course uses a gamified approach and has 4 modules; it is important you do this from the start; this course will improve your problem-solving and analytical skills.
You will be trained to find various potential issues faced w.r.t the ship’s air conditioning and reefer systems onboard.
Most importantly, this module deals with the real situations on board and focuses on practical issues, which all engineers can relate to and remember so that they can use these solutions in the future.
Learning Objectives:-
At the end of this module, the candidate will be able to,
1) Explain the various reasons for the frosting in the reefer chamber
2) Explain how to stop the leakage of refrigerant
3) Explain the different types of valves used in refrigeration system
4) Explain the safety measures, limitations and interpretations of indications while using Halide torches
5) Explain how to use an electronic freon detector correctly
6) Explain what are the issues concerning thermostatic expansion valves and the effects of overcharging the systems
7) Explain the importance of crankcase heaters, short cycling and how to carry out hot gas defrosting
8) Explain how to test a pressure switch and how to measure true lub oil pressure.
9) Have self-confidence and self-assurance while dealing with these problems on board and will also confidently answer any third-party inspectors if they are asked questions about the reefer or air conditioning plant.
