Who is this course for?

All seafarers, regardless of rank, who are new to a vessel.

Is previous experience required?

No previous experience is required to complete this course.

How will this course benefit my company?

Many accidents involving new crewmembers occur as a result being unfamiliar with the vessel’s characteristics and layout. This course provides seafarers with an introduction to the key areas covered during onboard familiarisation, helping to promote safety, increase awareness and ensure the process is completed as efficiently as possible. 

What standards are referred to in this course?

• International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS)

• The International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code

• International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW)

Is there an assessment?

End of course assessment with a pass mark of 70% and 2 attempts.
